What to pay attention to when using COD analyzer?

COD analyzer is a laboratory instrument for measuring chemical oxygen demand by colorimetry. It is mainly suitable for the determination of chemical oxygen demand in industrial wastewater such as coking, papermaking, petrochemical, fur, leather, pharmaceutical, food processing, etc.

Precautions for using COD detector:

1. Accuracy of blank samples

The accuracy of the blank sample is directly related to the accuracy of the final COD result. When making a blank, be sure to select deionized water or distilled water that meets the standard. The blank comparison produced in this way is effective and reliable.

2. Water sample digestion

During digestion, after the digestion device reaches the required temperature, the caps of all sample colorimetric tubes must be tightened to avoid volatilization and splashing caused by high temperature.

3. Interfering substances in water samples

During the COD rapid test, the main interfering substance is the chloride ion content, and the high chloride ion content will affect the test of the water sample. If it exceeds 1000mg/L, it needs to be diluted or treated by other removal methods before test. Additionally too many suspended solids in the water sample, turbidity, and too dark color will affect the test results, and corresponding pretreatment is required.

4. Details

For each test, the colorimetric tube needs to be wiped clean with a flannel to prevent fingerprints and stains from affecting the detection of COD meter. When taking water samples and reagents, try to make the amount as accurate as possible.
