Purpose and Application of Total Phosphorus Analyzer

In natural water and wastewater, phosphorus exists in various forms. Total phosphorus is the sum of organic phosphorus, inorganic phosphorus, and condensed phosphate. In general natural water bodies, phosphorus content is not high, but in industrial wastewater and domestic sewage, its content is relatively high. When the total phosphorus content of the water body exceeds 0.1mg/L, it reaches the harmful level. Therefore, the determination of total phosphorus in water quality is an important criterion for evaluating the quality of water bodies.

Total phosphorus is the result of determination after the water sample is digested to convert various forms of phosphorus into orthophosphate. It is measured in milligrams of phosphorus per liter of water sample. The principle of total phosphorus determination (ammonium molybdate method) is as follows. After the sample is digested, all the phosphorus contained in it is oxidized to orthophosphate. In an acidic medium, orthophosphate reacts with ammonium molybdate to form phosphomolybdenum heteropolyacid in the presence of antimony salt, which is immediately reduced by ascorbic acid to form a blue complex. The total phosphorus content in the water sample is determined according to the absorbance of the complex.

The detection principle of total phosphorus analyzer is in line with the environmental protection industry method, and the instrument detection is fast, the operation is simple, and the cost of consumables is low. It is widely used in wastewater detection in environmental monitoring stations, sewage treatment plants (stations), chemical, pharmaceutical, hospital, food, printing and dyeing industries, as well as colleges and universities, scientific research institutions and other organizations.

Points to note in use:
1. The reagent contains toxic and corrosive substances, so please pay attention to the safety of the test, and do not directly contact the reagent;
2. The pressure of the sample tube increases rapidly during the digestion process. Please wear protective clothing, protective glasses, protective gloves, etc. for good protection;
3. Please keep the packing box tightly closed during storage to avoid light exposure to the sample tube and store it in a cool and dark place;
4. Place or dispose of discarded test tubes properly. The test tube contains toxic and harmful waste liquid. The waste liquid can be poured into the waste liquid bucket for centralized treatment, and the test tube is handed over to the hazardous waste company for disposal.

The total phosphorus analyzer has stable performance, accurate measurement and simple operation. It can determine the total phosphorus content in wastewater discharged from industries such as chemical, paper-making, rubber, textile printing and dyeing, pesticide, coking, petrochemical, fermentation, medicine and medical treatment, and food industries.
